Zakat calculator
2.5% of eligible wealth held for a lunar year, once it passes the nisab.
Look up today's nisab from a trusted source, based on the gold or silver standard your scholar follows. Views differ on which assets count, so confirm with a scholar.
Halal ratio screen
Check a company against the common financial ratio limits.
Uses these limits: debt under 30% of market cap, cash and interest-bearing securities under 30%, non-compliant income under 5% of revenue. Boards set their own thresholds, and this check doesn't cover a company's core business activity.
The right specialist at the right stage
Professionals are vetted partners you can book from inside The Ledger, so you aren't searching for someone who understands halal finance.

Questions people ask
Is The Ledger available today?
We're launching in stages. The free Zakat calculator and ratio screen come first, followed by banking, investing, and retirement features as our partners and approvals come online.
How do you decide what is halal?
We screen a company's business activity and its financial ratios, then calculate how much income needs purification. Our board reviews the rules, and we publish the thresholds. Scholars differ on some points, so we show the reasoning behind each verdict.
Is my money safe?
Accounts and investments are held with licensed partners, not by The Ledger itself. We will name each partner and describe the protections that apply before you open an account.
Do I have to use the specialists?
No. Specialists are optional, and you can bring your own. Booking one through The Ledger means they already know how halal products work.
Does this replace a scholar?
No. Our tools give you a clear starting point. For questions where scholars differ, we point you to a qualified one.
